What do I get for my membership dues?
A lot! You get a sacred community made up of caring clergy, staff and synagogue members to help you learn and grow, to celebrate your blessings with you and support you through life's challenges. You get a community of friends who share lifeās experiences. You will be celebrated for your accomplishments and challenged to improve yourself and your world. You will be a part of congregation that has been flourishing for well over 120 years. You will have the satisfaction of knowing that you are supporting the continuation of Jewish life in Suffolk County, and in the world.Ā
What is the process for joining Temple Beth El?
It's easy. Simply contact the office at (631) 475-1882Ā or email tbepatchogue@gmail.com.Ā We will answer your questions, take you on a tour and explain the benefits of membership. We will also put you in touch with Rabbi Faber, who will meet with you in person, or chat on the phone, whichever you prefer. When you are ready to join us, simply fill out the confidential membership application found below and then one of our Co-Presidents, Cheryl Gavin or David Stern, will be in touch.
What if I can't afford membership?
No one is turned away for financial reasons. Special new first-time membership programs are available as well as a membership assistance program. When you are ready to discuss finances, if you have a concern, you can have a private and confidential conversation with one of our Co-Presidents, and together you will come up with a plan that works for you and your family.Ā
What if I am part of an Interfaith family?
Our goal is to help every family feel comfortable in our congregation, and we warmly welcome interfaith couples and families. A non-Jewish partner or parent can participate in most aspects of Jewish ritual. During a baby naming, or Bar/Bat mitzvah, the non-Jewish parent traditionally joins their spouse and child on the bima based on the rules of conservative Judaism. The non-Jewish parent may also deliver an English reading as part of the Bar or Bat Mitzvah service. All are welcome and encouraged to participate in Beth El committee life and events.Ā Ā

Do we have to be a member in order for our child to attend Hebrew School?

I am unable to attend services/programs in person, but want to be affiliated with a synagogue and would like to attend services on Zoom, can I?
Yes, we offer an Associate Member program for those that are unable to join us in person but want to attend services on Zoom. Please contact the office at (631) 475-1882 (or email tbepatchogue@gmail.com) and ask for the details.
