Rabbi Ilan Pardo has been serving as the Spiritual Leader of Temple Beth-El of Patchogue since September 2022.
He joined the congregation after holding various educational and leadership roles in synagogues across Virginia and Pennsylvania since 2000. Since arriving at Temple Beth-El, Rabbi Pardo continues to collaborate with local clergy and community leaders to organize interfaith events, both at the temple and at other places of worship and community organizations in the area.
Originally from Israel, Rabbi Pardo has lived in Africa, Asia, and Europe. He is widely traveled and speaks several languages fluently. He has four children: Andrew, Alberto, and Nadia, who are adults, and Rebecca, who is a High School student. Rabbi Pardo lives in the village of Patchogue with his wife, Neia; their youngest daughter, Rebecca; and his mother, Nadia. The family is deeply engaged in the local community.
Rabbi Pardo is committed to outreach and inclusion, both within the synagogue and throughout the broader community. His religious services are enthusiastic and welcoming, designed to engage a diverse Jewish community with a variety of backgrounds and traditions. He is passionate about Judaism and Jewish education for all ages, and believes that a strong Hebrew language curriculum is essential to understanding Jewish religion and heritage.
He leads monthly Nosh and Learn sessions at Temple Beth-El, continuing to educate the community on various topics related to Judaism.
Rabbi Pardo is also a dedicated supporter of Israel - the biblically mandated homeland of the Jewish people - and its eternal capital, Jerusalem. His advocacy for Israel and for strong American-Israeli relations remains unwavering, through both good and difficult times. He served for three years in the Israeli Defense Forces as a Military Police Officer, giving him firsthand insight into the experiences and emotions of Jewish life in modern Israel, the Holy Land of our ancestors.
Rabbi Pardo is available to meet with both congregants and visitors for spiritual counseling and religious guidance. His warm and compassionate nature reflects the welcoming spirit of Temple Beth-El of Patchogue.
His signature motto is: "Be kind to the world and its inhabitants."
